Blog Entry: Citizenship can be obtained either by birth or by naturalization. If you are born to U.S. citizen parents, you automatically become a citizen if certain conditions are met. In case of naturalization, you can obtain citizenship by filing the citizenship form N-400. Applying for Naturalization: One will be eligible to file citizenship Form N400 only if they fulfill the following requirements: -at least 18 years of age -able to speak, read and write basic English -living in the United States for 5 years without breaking continuous residence or the physical presence in the US -if married to a U.S citizen, the applicant should be living with that U.S citizen for the past 3 three years of permanent residency -applicants presence in the particular district or state for three months while filling the citizenship application -good moral character -must pass the Civics test -must take the oath of allegiance to the U.S. As obtaining the U.S. citizenship gives the privilege of enjoying the rights, it is necessary to understand the whole citizenship process. It is always better to disclose the truth and be honest enough to avoid any kind of rejection in the application. Thus by adhering to the USCIS guidelines one can easily get citizenship without much of a hassle.
